Student Agreement
Acknowledgment
To participate in the Saga Medical First Responder (MFR) Training Program, the student must confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to the following terms and conditions:
- Theory (Online) Component
For blended training, the student acknowledges that successful completion of the theory (online) component is a prerequisite to participation in the practical skills component. Access to the online materials will be granted no earlier than thirty (30) days prior to the first scheduled practical skills session.
All required online coursework, including assessments, must be fully completed no less than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the commencement of the practical skills component. Failure to meet this requirement may result in denial of participation in the practical session.
- Professional Conduct and Attire
The student agrees to maintain a professional standard of conduct at all times during training. Students are required to wear appropriate identifying clothing affiliated with their Participating Agency, along with suitable footwear, during all practical training sessions. Saga reserves the right to refuse participation to any student who does not meet these requirements.
- Attendance and Punctuality
The student acknowledges that punctual attendance is mandatory. Saga maintains a strict no-late-entry policy. Students who arrive after the scheduled start time or after instruction has commenced will not be permitted to join the session and may be required to reschedule in accordance with Section 4.
- Deferrals and Rescheduling
Saga recognizes that unforeseen circumstances may prevent a student from attending or completing the practical component. In such cases, the student may submit a request to defer participation to a future session, subject to availability and Saga’s approval.
If the rescheduled practical session occurs more than sixty (60) days following completion of the didactic component, the student will be required to repeat the didactic component at no additional cost.
In the event that a second deferral is requested and the practical component is not completed within ninety (90) days of completion of the didactic component, the student shall forfeit fifty percent (50%) of the original registration fee.
Trainee Certificate of Health & Physical Readiness
The program requires participants to perform a range of physically demanding skills, the student will be required to acknowledge their Health and Physical Readiness.
The skills include but are not limited to:
– Lifting and carrying heavy loads
– Lifting and maneuvering a spine board loaded with a patient
– Maintaining patient spinal stabilization for extended periods
– Rolling and repositioning unconscious patients
– Assisting with patient movement using a stair chair (ascending and descending stairs)
– Lifting a loaded stretcher/gurney into an ambulance
