About Saga’s MFR

Emergency Health Services (EHS) works with agencies who are participating in the EHS Medical First Response Program (Participating Agencies).

Saga’s MFR course is intended for Participating Agencies such as Fire Departments, Peace Officers, Search and Rescue Organizations who respond to ill or injured members of their community.

Saga’s MFR course meets all requirements of Alberta Emergency Health Services (previously AHS) MFR Program. It is based on Intermediate First Aid but goes on to cover all the other Alberta MFR elements including MFR Legislation and Policies, MFR Medical Control Protocols, all 10 MFR Optional Enhanced Skills, High-Performance Basic Life Support, and Practical Skills Review and Evaluation.

Saga’s MFR course provides trainees with the scope of practice of an Advanced First aider without the time and expense of taking Advanced First Aid through its blended training format.

With Saga’s blended format, students are required to complete approximately 22 hours of online didactic knowledge and testing, followed by approximately 32 hours of practical, hands-on skills training.
